If it's your car
A car left untouched for a long time, especially a visibly neglected one, can lead to:

What to do
- Check the car's status and fines on the RTA and Dubai Police apps.

If your car has already been removed
Contact the authority or building management that issued the notice to find out where the car was taken, what's owed and what you need to reclaim it. Then decide whether it's worth reclaiming or better sold. Fees can grow while a car sits in storage, so act quickly.
If it's someone else's car
Don't move, damage or try to sell it. Only the registered owner, or someone legally authorised by them, can deal with the car. Instead:

Buyers can't legally purchase a car without the registered owner's involvement, so offers to "take it off your hands" for a car you don't own aren't a solution.

- Keep registration and insurance current
- Tell building management you'll be away
- Disconnect the battery or use a battery maintainer if available
A note for landlords and building managers
When a tenant or resident leaves a car behind, frustration is understandable, especially if it takes up an allocated bay. Keep a written record of attempts to contact the owner, photograph the car and its condition with dates, and follow your building's procedures and the authority's process for abandoned vehicles. Avoid clamping, moving or blocking the car yourself unless your rules and the law clearly allow it.
