Vehicle services in Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain, run through TAMM, the emirate's government services platform, alongside Abu Dhabi Police traffic services. Before a car can change hands or be cancelled, the usual conditions apply:
- Traffic fines on the vehicle file are cleared, including any from other emirates.
- Darb toll balances and violations are checked. Darb is Abu Dhabi's toll gate system.
- Mawaqif parking fines (the city's paid parking system) are settled.
- Bank mortgages are released with the lender's clearance letter.

Mussafah is where much of Abu Dhabi's car repair happens, and it's also where a lot of unwanted cars get stuck. An owner books a car in for a diagnosis, the quote for an engine or gearbox comes back higher than expected, and the car sits in the yard.
