Selling a junk car in Dubai: the RTA side
Every car registered in Dubai sits on an RTA traffic file. Until RTA records the car as transferred or cancelled, it stays your responsibility. For a sale to us, the key points are:
- Fines from RTA, Dubai Police and other emirates must be cleared. They can be paid from the sale price.
- Bank loans need a settlement and a clearance letter so RTA can lift the mortgage.
- Salik is linked to the plate. Check your balance and update the account after the transfer or plate surrender.
- Expired registration is fine for a sale, but the car shouldn't be driven. We collect on a truck.
