Is it really dead? Common faults that look worse than they are
UAE heat is hard on cars. Batteries that are fine in January can fail in a single August week, and a car that has been parked through summer often looks far more broken than it is. These faults are common, fairly cheap to fix, and easy to mistake for something terminal:
- Battery: heat shortens battery life. A slow crank, clicking or dead dashboard is often just the battery.
- Starter motor or relay: a single click and nothing else can point to a starter fault rather than the engine.
- Fuel pump: the engine cranks happily but never catches.
- Sensors: a failed crankshaft or camshaft position sensor can stop a healthy engine from running.
- Blown fuse or corroded earth strap: the car seems electrically dead but the parts behind it are fine.
How we price a not working car
A scrap yard weighs the car. We look at what is still worth something. The things that move a not working car's offer most are:

Selling a not working car vs fixing it first
Fixing makes sense when the repair is cheap and the car is otherwise good. It rarely makes sense when the quote is a large share of what the car will be worth afterwards, or when you simply don't have the time.
