"How much is it worth?" is the first question anyone asks about a broken car, and the honest answer is: it depends more than you'd think. The value ladder: scrap, parts and repairable

Think of your car's value as a ladder with three rungs.

1. Scrap value (the floor). The metal in the car at current prices, minus towing and handling. Every car has this.
2. Parts value. What the working and undamaged parts are worth to people repairing similar cars.
3. Repairable value. What the car would be worth fixed, minus the realistic cost and risk of fixing it.

1. Make and model

This matters more than anything else. In the UAE, strong parts demand keeps the value of these high even when damaged:
